About me and my approach
My name is Laura, and I'm a humanistic person-centred practitioner with over 14 years of experience in the field of counselling and NHS mental health services.
I work intuitively with you as an individual, journeying with you as you seek to heal from whatever is causing you pain. I believe that you not only the right to feel OK, but also the capacity to help yourself get to where you want to be.
Also, I have experience of breathwork from my yoga training, which can be very useful in supporting the more traditional talking therapy and can help you to learn how to relax and self-soothe in challenging situations.

I am a trained and fully qualified yoga instructor and also offer classes especially suited to people experiencing stress and anxiety. My classes are purposely kept small to encourage those who may feel nervous about giving it a try.

I am a chartered clinical psychologist with 25 years of clinical experience working in the NHS, Local Authority and independently. A neurophysiotherapist will complete a specialist assessment and use a different range of treatment techniques to help address the problems created by neurological conditions. These are conditions which affect the central nervous system, that's the brain and spinal cord. Problems treated include muscle spasms, weakness, tightness and contracture. There can also be postural difficulties, inco-ordination, pain and altered sensation.
A typical initial assessment will include a discussion of your condition and medical history, the problems you are having and the goals you wish to achieve through therapy. This is followed by a physical examination and joint treatment planning.

I work with people aged 18 or over (with no upper age limit) who are experiencing a variety of psychological difficulties including but not limited to anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive compulsive (OCD) disorder. I recognise that these difficulties can be triggered by various life transitions and I have worked with people who have experienced bereavements, retirement, changes in physical health, lifestyle changes, relationship difficulties and traumatic events. I can offer psychological support to individuals and to couples.
Through my previous and current roles within the NHS I have a particular interest and experience in providing psychological support to people over the age of 60 and people who are experiencing difficulties in adjusting to changes in their physical health.
